Media Essentials

I have been working on this projects for well over two years.  At first it was a simple Highslide plugin but it has grown into a complete media database supporting tons of formats and a comprehensive database back-end for administering albums and media. It allows you to mix images, videos and streams into single albums with thumbnails making them virtually ambigeous in visual representation.

Media Essentials Highslide Framework

The highslide framework was created to allow for sliding complex html and media objects. Highslide is commercial plugin that allows for extremely versatile sliding popups. It is free for non commercial purposes. Highslide has a unique editor that allows you to customize the appearance of your pop-up with a few clicks of a button.

Media Essentials Ajax Framework

The AJAX framework adds ajax endpoints to Media Essentials. These endpoints can be used to retrieve media information and albums. The framework itself needs to be integrated with the theme to work effectively as it depends heavily on javascript, although some function is present out of the box.
